i have a competition coming up soon and recently bought a pair of tights. i dont know what brand they are but they came with some little hooks , 2 which look a bit like a 'U', 2 which look like a 'T'. both have round loops at the edges of them (where the ' are marked above) and i assume they must hook together some how.... but how? what do i do with them?? lol sorry this sounds like a very silly question, but im kinda new at this :D

  1. The hooks go under the boot

  2. You know, I prefer over the boot tights since my skates are 4 years old and a bit ugly, but I notice I have a tendency to want to retie them right before a competition and those little hooks make it difficult once they're done up.

If you've ever seen some of Sasha Cohen's spiral pictures, she wears the hooked over the boot tights once in a while and doesn't hook them.  I don't either.

It's totally preference, but if you want to quickly retie your laces before taking the ice, I'd highly recommend just leaving them alone (or even removing them, but I've never had a problem with just keeping them there).

    Good luck at your competition!

  3. Don't Worry!! I've been wearing over the boot tights for 5 years. You pull the tights over the skates, and then the end of the U hooks into the side of the O.

  4. After you slip the tights over the boot, the hooks fasten under the sole . . . somewhere towards middle of the boot, closer to the heel.

It hooks like this if this is the kind you have:  http://jas-townsend.com/images/large/hk-...

The loops on the ends are where it gets sewn on to the tights (if it didn't come pre-sewn).  I used to put them on, over the boot, and pinch inside/outside "edges" of bottom part of the tights together underneath the sole and made a light pencil mark where I'd want the hooks to be . . . then take them off to be sewn.

Some like the hooks, some don't.  I always used the hooks and did not have a problem with them.  I didn't want to chance the tights somehow flipping off the boot while I was skating (gave me a peace of mind - one less thing to worry about!).  But that's just me!

As Matokah was saying, I prefer the over the boot tights too!!  I was just plain lazy to polish and those tights covered EVERYTHING - ha!!

Best of luck with your competition!!!
