i work for roadway express, the trucking company.......they are hiring for over the road drivers all around the country......i have considered it because they pay about 56 cents on the mile which is pretty good, and the hourly wage for local/yard drivers (me) is almost $24

do you think i could make more money going over the road? i am guaranteed the miles i want (that are legal) by contract

  1. Your probably better off in the long run staying local. While 56 cents is pretty good, an hourly rate of 24 dollars is the better way to go on a day to day basis. Sometimes those miles you need to run to make the big money come pretty hard if you can get them considering stops, traffic and weather.

  2. I would stay with local cartage work. O-T-R might pay more but you spend more on the road. I have done them both and local cartage is better.
