  1. You should know all the answers of how contacts affect your eyes, before wearing them. Speak to an optician.

  2. because after the 2 week period, they are just considered old and dirty and used up. whether you clean them or not. they collect alot a c**p after 2 weeks , and if you don't change them, you can get a eye infection.

  3. There are a few different variables at work when "over wearing" contact lenses.  Different lens brands/types have different wear schedules.  Some lenses are intended for daily use, some bi weekly use, monthly use, etc...  Also how well a person cleans their lenses can also impact how long the lens can be worn.

There is also the eye's tolerance for wearing contact lenses.  I   generally wear mine for 14-16 hours per day and have slept in them several times without any problems.  There are some people who can wear them for months without removing them and others who can only wear them a few hours before irritating their eyes.  My friend starting wearing contacts several years before I did and I can wear mine for a longer duration than he can.

I use extended wear lenses that are supposed to be good for 30 days, but I can usually get about 45-50 days of wear out of them.  I clean my contacts very well almost every night and rarely handle them with my fingers.  I use a tool to insert and remove them and noticed they have lasted so much since I started doing that.

I suggest that you follow the wear schedule prescribed by your doctor and the lens manufacturer.  If a contact lens is irritating your eyes, then stop using it and open a new lens.

  4. The ability for contacts to transmit oxygen and retain moisture would have been reduced or lost by 2 weeks. The contacts would have been clogged up with dirt, no matter how clean you clean them. You can suffocate your eyes, causing redness from doing so.

I wouldn't be surprised the contacts have done that to your eyes. It can even cause infections if you keep going.

If it's a financial problem and you know you can't keep up with wearing them everyday, I suggest you go back to glasses.

  5. well it sounds like you really dont care about your eyes, i dont have the answer to why you should not over wear them, all i know if it does bad stuff to your eyes then they are no good, it aint worth loosin eyesight over contacts that aint no good
