Overall results shake up on Day 5 of 2012 Redink Homes Geographe Bay Race Week Championship
With just two days remaining in its finish, the 2012 Redink Homes Geographe Bay Race Week Championship is now witnessing shaky score boards in the categories of IRC Blue and IRC White.
The top guns of the regatta, who dominated their respective fleets in the very first days of the event, are now in shaky positions and might tumble down any time if they do not pull up their socks and get back into the regatta.
The 2012 Redink Homes Geographe Bay Race Week Championship has moved into its final stages where a nick of mistake can shatter the results in instances. The fleets finished the proceedings of fifth day with two scheduled races. The fifth day of the regatta
started under perfect weather conditions as the breeze was gusting over the racecourse form 10 to 15 knots southwesterly which made the racing more thrilling and exciting.
IRC Blue
The IRC Blue fleet is currently being led by Black Betty skippered by Gary McNally. McNally started the regatta with low finishes on Day 1 but after that he compiled some bullets in the next two days to hit the top spot of the fleet with 10 points.
Just Cruisin’s skipper, Tony Carter, followed McNally closely from the beginning but could not keep his momentum and slipped down on a couple of occasions. However, he is still on second podium place with 17 points and might challenge McNally within the
next two days.
Craig Carter on Hoodoo Man is trailing two points behind Tony Carter with 19 points. He sailed convincingly and consistently from the start. He clinched only one bullet but later in the event, he compiled some high finishes to occupy the third spot.
IRC White
Peter Hickson’s Mulberry showed impressive sailing skills on last two days to ensure his grip on the first podium. He clinched four bullets during his campaign and hit the first position with 13 points. However, in the next two days, he will be challenged
by Gomez Addams, skipper Rottnest Express Addams Family. Addams is on second podium for now with 16 points but he is showing constant progress in his run and might challenge the top podium.
Third placed Minds Eye skippered by Brad Skeggs is also performing brilliantly in the past couple of days. Skeggs was impressive on the Geographe Bay waters on Day 5 and grabbed a second and a third place in both races of the day to move up on Podium 3 with
16 points. If he continues his progressive performance, he will surely challenge the fleet leader.
