  1. Cant really add a great deal to what Elmer say's here, the smothering is an apt description of Ricky's style,by his own addmision he models himself on the great Duran but Duran was also a great fighter of no real equal at lightweight.Ricky is a brave fella with obvious flaws brought out with Mayweather.I remember looking at Ricky and thinking 'jesus,he's a small welter!!'besides the size difference there was a gulf in class,Ricky coulnt deal with the defnsive mastery of money may, simple as that.Ill always watch Hattons fights cos of a gauranteed 100% each time, great fighter and character!

  2. At 140 lbs. Ricky is world class, but hi is out of his comfort zone at 147, almost ordinary in fact.  If he stays out of the Welterweight division, he will do well, but any heavier than 140 he has problems.  Overall he is a solid boxer with good skills.

  3. he is an average at best boxer with no compatitions his last fight proved that

  4. hattons a good fighter with the most power of any junior welter weight i have seen, he needs to stay at junior welter weight. he is one of the most exiting boxers to watch and hes a cool guy.

  5. He's a tough guy, lots of ability and heart.  Incomplete as a fighter, and is a gross underachiever by smothering his own attack.  I know it's hard to call a former world champ with only 1 loss as a gross underachiever, but think about what could have been if he chose to stay close to Floyd as opposed to trying to head-butt him in the chest all night, ending up in either a clinch or an elbow in his throat.  There's infighting, and then there's smothering.  Hatton needs to look at guys like Chavez that could generate power from in close.

The thing that really spoiled Hatton's gutsy performance against Money May was his comments made about the referee having a bad night.  Nah, Ricky...Floyd Mayweather forced you into a bad night, and you had no other tools in your toolbox to do the job.  Joe Cortez gave Ricky his first taste of an authentic boxing match according to the rules.

  6. It should be Hatton the brawler.

Duran was a brawler to. Hatton has good foot work, power and dangerous inside fighter. I like hatton and not going to jump off the band wagon because he lost. I see potentials in him. Hatton needs some boxing skills too add on what he already has. Hatton needs a jab to set things up and combo's. Instead of wasting his energy wrestling, preserve it. He's in the same boat Cotto was in. They made Cotto use his jab in his last fight. How many guy's in boxing, get beat because they dont have a fundamental jab? Hatton needs Defense. I seen a fight of a boxer vs brawler. The brawler lost every round because he couldn't get in. The brawler had nothing to turn to and just had jab sandwiches all night long. I was like, "use your jab to get in, user your jab to get in."
