i've been on vicodin the past few days following wisdom teeth removal surgery, so i forgot to take me birth control pills for the past three days. so today i had to take three at one time to get back on schedule. that's my story....

so i was just curious if it's possible to overdose on birth control pills. and how many would it take to overdose?

  1. overdosing on birth control is like the same thing as taking the emergency contraceptive pill

taking three BC pills is not overdosing

taking 3 pills will throw off your system

missing 3 pills will put you at risk for getting pregnant

you cannot "catch yourself' up on the pill.

you take the pill EVERY DAY - it's a pill of hormones and you taking that pill tricks your body into thinking it's already making them.  when you dont take the pill, your body thinks it needs to make them.  it takes less than one day of no hormones for your body to start making them itself (giving yourself the regular cycle-) thats why you need to take it  at the same time every day.

bottom line- you wont overdose, but use condoms or something else

  2. Birth control is a hormone, you can't overdose on a hormone.

If you take too much you will vomit at most.

Talk to your doctor next time before you start cramming pills down.

  3. Most of the care surrounding this kind of overdose is supportive. You will not be protected against pregnancy this cycle so arm yourself with condoms;no exceptions. You might get nauseated, bloated, headaches and dizziness. Overdose which is what you have accomplished does not necessarily result in death. You may feel like c**p but should live through it. Some antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of bcp. With that in mind, don't trust the combination even in undocumented types of antibiotics doing this. Arm yourself with condoms just in case. Even illnesses that cause vomiting and diarrhea can decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. You should feel better in 2-3 days. You might consider the depo Provera injection which is given every 90 days. Compliance is important with any type of birth control method. It is not reccommended to take more than 2 bcp's to catch up but you will live. I hope you feel better soon.

  4. GUILTY !

  5. pimples and gain weights

  6. umm...it doesnt work that way, read the package, and talk to your doctor as soon as possible

  7. I would guess that it is possible, but not with three. You should probably not do it often, taking that many anyway. It would probably take a few packs to OD on birth control, but I don't know.

  8. Taking three at once is not going to catch you up.  It might make you nauseous, but it's not an overdose.  You've put yourself at risk for an accident, though, so use a backup form of birth control (condoms) until you start the next pack.

  9. i actually think your supposed to do that.

we had these people come into my class and they said if you missed one day then you were supposed to take two the next. idk if you can overdose probably not. call your doctor and ask, or search it on the internet or something.

  10. you can overdose on anything, although with birth control you'll probably just feel nauseous.

for the record, when you miss several doses of birth control, you should never take more than two at a time. for example, if you miss three days again, take two the day you remember, and two the day after that, to even out. more than that will generally up the side effects of the meds, including nausea and shaking. (according to the directions included with the birth control.)
