Question:

Overdraft Charges from Theft?

I need to know if it is common practice and lawful for your bank refuse to refund all overdraft charges, when someone has stolen your debit card number on line, and used it for p**n. The p**n site refunded the money, because the bank manager called them. The bank manager refunded some of the overdraft charges, but not all. I need them to refund all of these overdraft charges because I was not at fault for this mess and we have to live week to week on just $360.00. So my husband was paid today, but because of this theft from our bank account, it sure don't cover our bills. The bank is punishing us by not refunding all of the overdraft fees? Do I complain or should I just let it ride? Do I have a leg to stand on?

  1. it doesn't cover your bills (not don't).  You should indeed complain a lot and very loudly to the bank.  If they don't care, close your account and take it somewhere else.  They're banking on (pun intended) overdraft charges to keep them going now that the mortgate business is in the toilet.
