Overdraft in Lloyd's TSB?

in summer i worked in uk, so i made an account in Lloyds TSB. now i'm back in my country and i didn't realize that i have an overdraft. now it's so big- 400. but i don't have that kind of money right now, but it just keeps growing, they said that i can't close my account. now i can't even get to uk. don't know what to do. what can i? how bad can it get?

  1. It will keep growing as they will add charges, either in the form of interest or penalty charges or both. You don't need to get to UK. You could phone them up and explain the problem, and see if they will switch it to a loan with a lower interest rate.

    Or you can ignore it. They will probably pursue the matter legally, and if they are successful a demand for you to pay the money back, with their legal costs will be made. The court judgement will be recorded against your name making it difficult if not impossible for you to open another bank account in UK and perhaps some other countries where Lloyds TSB has a presence.


  2. I was in a similar situation and was advised to make three payments of £10 on three seperate occassions to prove that you are paying money in the account. This will show that you are being respnsible with it and they wont close down the account.
