How can you find out if you have an overdraft without having to go in to your bank?

I just turned 18 and Hsbc have upgraded my account. I got a letter saying something about a student account with a £1000 overdraft, but i do not know if i still have it.

I really would like to have an overdraft just wondering if anyone has got one on the normal account?

Thanks

Btw i am in the uk

  1. avoid an over draft if possible, just phone them if you don't want to walk there!

  2. Simple.

    a)  When you have money in your account, your account is in credit  (Cr.)

b)When you don't  have money and the bank keeps paying your cheques, your account will be in debit (Dr)

    c) When you are in debit of  ÃƒÂ‚£1,000, you have enjoyed the ceiling of  your overdraft  facility or overdraft  limit.

    d) You can check your statement of account  or keep asking for the balance of  your account daily.

  3. you can find out online if you have internet banking or phone them up.

    www.hsbc.co.uk

however i would have to say DONT DO IT i took an overdraft out with hsbc last year and they get you in alot of trouble with it as the interet is very high.

I had interest free for a year up to £400 but i went over by £100 and they took a charge of £150 out on top of that so i ended up being £650 overdrawn and was still gaining interes on that.

I would really advise you avoid geting an overdraft if you can !

    hope this helps :)
