Question:

Overhead Halogens too harsh!?

We just installed track lighting around our office. Each track has three 50W halogen lights in them. They hang at about 8 ft.

They are blinding us! The light is so bright that people are miserable and complaining. We point them away from us, but if even a corner of a bulb catches your eye, you're blinded and stumbling into things. The color seems unnaturally white too.

We aren't sure how to solve this. Will a lower wattage bulb solve the dazzle-problem? Any recommendations? Are there bulbs with a frosted front to diffuse the light? (I couldn't find any).

can we make diffusers ourselves? Could we get warmer colored bulbs? Put up Gels?

  1. Get rid of the darn things! It's costing the company money and is now a liability.
