Overnight layover and luggage?

Question

This is prob. considered to be a stupid ?, but I don't know--- I have flown a million times, yet never with an overnight layover. My flights were purchased as normal, but w/ an overnight layover will I get my checked bag at the airport? Or will they keep it overnight to put it on my connecting flight's plane? If they keep it, I will need to carry some more things on my carryon. thanks!

They'll keep it overnight - it will be put on your plane the next day.

Bring a change of clothes and some travel-sized toiletries (remember, they have to go in your "plastic bag o' liquids": http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm ).
