Question:

Overnight trains Germany to Venice?

I am looking at trains from Germany to Venice (Pordenone, NE direction actually) I would like to be there in the morning.

1) Are there specific issues I should look at in pricing, like return tickets? (I probably don't qualify for discounts)

2) Are there any convenient overnight trains I can catch?

I am actually in Luxembourg, and will probably join the rail network in Frankfurt or further north.

  1. For the second part of your question about schedules, I suggest you use the swiss timetables search engine (it's the one I prefer)at http://www.sbb.ch (deutch) or http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en? in english

I did a quick check and it seems you'll be forced to do at least one transfer. The following result can be convenient for you:

Frankfurt (Main) Hbf dep 16:54 Train ICE 723 InterCityExpress

    München Hbf arr 20:04

München Hbf dep 21:03 Train CNL40389 CityNightLine

    Venezia S. Lucia arr 06:38

For the first part of your question about pricing you look at either DB website at http://www.db.de and CityNightLine (DB night trains subsidiary) website at http://www.citynightline.de
