Overseas Experience, Saving...But How Much?

I Live in New Zealand, and as beautiful as it is, i want to get out of here, and experience Europe.

Has Anyone seen the program 'Backpackers' where 3 Australian guys travel Europe? i LOVE what they did, and where they went. They Inspired Me :)

Im 15 & Its been my top priority to pass Ncea1-2-3 (grade/year 11, 12, 13) and then have a gap year travelling throughtout Europe, for one year.

So i have a 2 and a half years to Save.

how much money do you think i would need in New Zealand Dollars to Travel Throughtout Europe for one year? If I go, just keep i mind, i will be on tight budget, like bakedbeans and bread and cheap hostels :)

It would be great to get money advice from experienced backpackers also.

im doing a 28 day contiki tour of europe and thats costing me 5 grand aussie..it really depends on how much you want to see, how long you want to stay not forgetting the cost of visas... i would say roughly $20,000

Well the best you can start doing now is to get into pen pal site and get as many friends in Europe as you can. That will help you to save tons of precious dollars in accommodation cost, which is the biggest killer of long travel. And of course they can help you to find a job as well. My son is sixteen this month and want to do exactly same thing. I told him exactly same thing and he already got 6 pen pals in Europe with a invitation of short stay.
