Overturn expected to turn tables in the StanJames.com Chester Cup at Chester
Overturn, trained by Donald McCain is attracting bets and market attention for the StanJames.com Chester Cup, which is scheduled to take place on the Roodee racecourse at Chester on 9th May, 2012 where he will break from stall
8.
The eight-year-old gelding, who is owned by T.G. Leslie has experience on a range of different tracks.
The fact that he can adapt to different conditions, and still perform in an incredible manner will definitely work in his favour.
Overturn will be racing as a joint favourite along with Barbican in this race, expected to truly shine.
Gulf Of Naples, trained by Mark Johnston, will compete in the event as the second favourite, but he will have to cover more distance as he will break out of stall 19.
Overturn, the son of Barathea, out of mare Kristal Bridge, started his season with a solid finish as a runner-up in the Grade 1 Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy, where he was defeated by the Paul Nicholls' trained Rock On Ruby by 3 ¾ lengths
in the Cheltenham Festival, on 13th March, 2012.
Kiama Bay’s trainer John Quinn believes that his runner is in good shape and will definitely make a name for himself in this race.
The six-year-old gelding does not lack in experience, and talent – which gives Quinn the confidence to be optimistic about his chances.
The son of Fraam, out of La Panthere, landed a victory at Chester before, so the familiarity with the track will be an added benefit for him.
He defeated, Thin Red Line, by a tremendous margin of 11 lengths in the Cruise Nightspot Handicap in June 2011.
The trainer stated that:
"I would give him a chance. He ran off the track at Kempton last time but until then he was in the process of running a good race."
He further commented that:
"He held his form in good heritage handicaps all last season. He's won at Chester before and was second in a Listed race there as well, so we know he likes the place. We don't know if he'll stay the trip, obviously, but there is only one way to find
out."
Never Can Tell, Zuider Zee and Harrison's Cave will also be competing in this race, while Shubaat is the first reserve.
