My LMP was July 21 and my cycle is 36 days. When do you think I ovulated. My boyfriend and I had unpsotected s*x on August 16 and I was wandering what my chances would be for catching the end of it?

  1. On AVERAGE, women ovulate about 14 days BEFORE AF is expected to arrive.  Now because the AVERAGE woman has 28 day cycles, 14 days before AF and 14th day of their cycle is the same, so you will find many references to ovulation occuring on day 14.  But for women with shorter or longer cycles, what stays the same is the number of days from ovulation of menstration.  Again, 14 days is just an average, your luteal phase (ovulation to menstration) may be different.  However, even if your cycle length changes, the lenght of the luteal phase generally doesn't change by more than about 1 day from one month to the other.  So if you ever use BBT to determine you ovulated on day 24 of a 36 day cycle, then you would know your luteal phase is about 12 days long.  Since you have not tracked when ovulation occured, the best guess that can be made is 14 days before AF.  So if this month your period remains 36 days long, you should have ovulated around day 22.  That would make it around Aug. 11th.  If you did the baby dance after the 11th, then it's unlikely (nay impossible unless you ovulated late) for you to be pregnant.  Did you do "anything" around the 8th through the 10th?

  2. Ovulation is always 14 days before your next period. So if your 36-day cycles are regular, you'll be ovulating around CD22 and your 'fertile window will be CD17-24 every month. This month, you probably ovulated around 11th August. The egg only lives for 24 hours.
