Owen Coyle: I don't need to sell
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle maintains that he does not have to sell a single member of his successful squad despite the club's big debts.
Bolton has started the season impressively and has cantered to a position of fifth in the Premier League table. Coyle says it's vital he can keep the team and squad together to keep this going.
"I think it's important that we put this to bed finally.
We don't have to sell anyone in January. When the financial results came out they weren't great [Bolton is around £100 million in debt] and no-one is trying to be evasive or trying to pretend otherwise," Coyle told Sky
Sports News.
Coyle says he has a very good working relationship with individuals in important positions in the club. He has revealed that he has not been asked to get rid of any players
in his recent time as manager.
"I speak to Eddie [Davies, the owner], like I do the chairman, every week and I'm as comfortable now as I was when I came into the
job. They have stressed to me that I don't have to sell anybody. In a matter of fact, I'm looking to strengthen in January to help the squad we've got," he added.
Additional players coming in would increase the club's wage budget but this would be covered by the club's annual business model. It would also provide cover in key areas
of the team and should allow the club to maintain a European position in the table.
"We don't have the greatest numbers but we have quality and I'm looking to
add to that because we want to build a team and take the club on," said Coyle.
Betting advice
The majority of football pundits agree that Coyle and Bolton have done a very good job so far this season. However, they also agree that the club will slide from a current impressive
position. Bolton is a safe bet for Premier League survival but has a lot of work to do to qualify for Europe.
