Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has revealed that he is certain former Trotters defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 will benefit from his move to Chelsea.
The Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas makes Cahill his first signing of the January transfer window with an attempt to strengthen his sides defensive abilities in the second half of the season. While talks had been ongoing since before the transfer window
started, the deal was concluded on Monday.
Villas-Boas is on a mission to rebuild the ageing Blues squad and seems to have started by bringing in Cahill, who could be a possible replacement for skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895. The 26-year-old could very well be the next Chelsea captain if he goes on to do well
for the London side.
Coyle revealed he was certain the central defender would go on to play a major role for the Blues, having done extremely well at Bolton Wanderers while he was at the club. He was also confident the move would benefit the player and make him into a top defender.
Coyle said in an interview:
“I think there is - as with any player - room for expansion and improvement. He has now gone to an elite club who have aspirations of winning every competition they enter.
I think that will push him on to another level, and he is competing with world-class players now for his position in the team.
He is working with a fantastic manager, who I know well and is someone who wants to build a club at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. I think Gary will be a huge part of that.”
As for his own side, Coyle is hopeful they will go on to improve towards the end of the season. He admitted they needed to return to winning ways which would give them more confidence for the second part of the 2011-2012 season and help them avoid relegation
come end of the season.
He revealed:
“Winning games breeds confidence, regardless of whether it is in the cup or league. I think our form has been decent recently, and we have to look to carry that on.”
