Owen Coyle promises Johan Elmander talks
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has promised the club will talk to striker Johan Elmander about a new contract.
Elmander's current deal runs out next summer, which means the forward would be free to walk away from Bolton. Reports within the media have suggested that Elmander is growing frustrated at the length of
time it's taking to put together a new deal.
"We'll sit down with him and he knows that.
I can't say it'll be today or tomorrow but he knows I want him at the football club.
He's got everything in his locker to be a top player. The very best," said Coyle.
This news should satisfy all parties concerned. However, Bolton needs to move quickly otherwise Elmander may start listening to offers from other top-flight clubs around
Europe.
Positive news
This is positive news from the Bolton manager because it shows the club is serious about Elmander having a future in Bolton. This should satisfy any doubts the striker
had about his role at the club.
The news should also be one of the first things that gets officials from the club and the player's agent talking. Sometimes contract negotiations need a kick start and
Coyle's comments could prompt this.
The club needs to deal with this matter sooner rather than later. When a piece of news breaks and stays in the media, other parties cotton onto it. This means other sides
may start taking a closer look at Elmander as a possible signing.
"He's got great mental strength because he's been panned from pillar to post because he came in with a big transfer fee.
But I've shown the belief I've had in him by playing him week in, week out.
He knows how much I think of him and I'm flattered that he's said is how much he enjoys working with me," added the manager.
Betting advice
The promise by the Bolton boss should be enough to keep Elmander happy. He's a very good player and a striker who is capable of scoring at any time in any game. Back Bolton
to stay up easily this season.
