Owen Hargreaves says he was treated like a guinea pig at Manchester United- English Premier League
Manchester City’s midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guinea-c2914 pig at Manchester United during his time there when he was struggling with his knee injury. Manchester United’s medical staff
has come under fire through Owen’s comments who said that they were responsible in several ways for making his knee problems worse at Old Trafford. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 was signed by Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2007 and he spent around about
4 years at Old Trafford before leaving the club on a free transfer to Manchester City.
The English midfielder played a major role in United’s league as well as the Champions League triumph in the 2007-2008 season but after having a successful debut season in English football, the former Bayern Munich player got bogged
down with fitness issues which saw him miss the next three seasons for the English giants. Hargreaves was offered a new deal last summer and as a result he left the Premier League champions for their bitter rivals Manchester City. Recently the Englishman made
his debut for City in the Carling Cup and scored from 20 yards out with a brilliant strike.
Speaking about his injury situation at Old Trafford Hargreaves said, "I received some injections but my tendon was never the same. After the injections, I tried to get back on my feet and they said my tendon was good, but it felt
like I was made out of glass. That obviously had a huge impact. With my tendon injury, I've had to be a guinea pig for a lot of these treatments. It's difficult. All the people there [at United] are lovely and everybody tries their best, but at times you come
to a certain point where you need to make a decision.”
He added that the Manchester United medical staff told him that the injections would help him recover but they deteriorated his situation as he was left to pick up the pieces on his own in the end. Owen also stated in hindsight,
he should have not had the injections. Elaborating on his future at Manchester City, Hargreaves said, "My physical function is very good, it's tip-top, but sadly, I'm not 18 anymore, so I need more recovery and more time in the gym to prepare for each training
session.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 will be hoping that Owen Hargreaves retains his fitness levels for the rest of the season at the City of Manchester stadium as his previous UEFA Champions League experience with Manchester United as well as Bayern
Munich will help City do well in Europe as well as domestically in the English Premier League.
