The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 International head-butted the Potters defender during a league match at the Britannia Stadium last week. Although the match referee failed to spot the incident, allowing the forward to escape immediate punishment, the Football Association slapped
him with a three-match ban later.
The Goodison Park chief, Moyes, admitted after the game that Fellaini’s behaviour was inappropriate and that he deserved to be suspended.
Later, the 25-year old issued a formal apology towards Shawcross, his manager and the fans, explaining that he lost his temper in the heat of the match.
Owen, who joined Stoke this summer after completing his spell at Manchester United, vituperated Fellaini for tarnishing the image of the game with his ‘ugly’ behaviour.
However, the English International was all praise for Moyes for the way he handled the whole situation. He expressed his satisfaction over watching the Belgian get penalized for his actions, and felt that his manager compelled him to issue an apology to
Shawcross.
“Fellaini displayed the ugly side of football not once but three times. While I don’t condone his seemingly persistent attack, I admire the way his manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes handled the situation,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“I’d also hazard a guess that the management forcefully advised Fellaini to make a public apology and try to dampen the flames. It was the right course of action and given the TV cameras had all three incidents covered in their entirety, there was nowhere
for him to hide.”
The controversy stricken match ended in a 1-1 draw after an early own goal from Shawcross was expunged by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis’ men to stay afloat
in the top half of the table, after having amassed 24 points from their 17 matches. They are now just 5 points behind the fourth spot.
Stoke will next take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
