Anyhow, Owen, who is a former Newcastle and Liverpool player, believes that the match official was at wrong on issuing red card to the Toon skipper.
The English International dubbed the referee’s decision as ‘laughable’, claiming that the defender did not even touch Suarez with his challenge and that he was one of the safest players in the Premier League.
“Not having that at all. [Coloccini] didn't touch him and to say there was intent is laughable,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“Let me tell you, he kicks a moving ball a thousand times a day and doesn't miss it once. If he wanted to connect with a standing leg then he wouldn't have missed.”
“He pulls out at the last minute and doesn't touch him. Not having that's a red at all.”
Coloccini is now set to miss his side’s next three fixtures.
