Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 claims he is fit and is hoping to play a part in the club’s remaining fixtures.
Owen, who was once a regular feature for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 man has been devoid of his previous speed and now faces a tough task
in making a return to the his current club team, Manchester United.
Old Trafford is filled to the brim with attacking options and with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 ahead of him in the pecking order, the veteran forward has failed to make the starting eleven more often than not.
However his ability to salvage something at the very end is something which can come in quite handy in title races, such as the one this season and Fergie will be tempted to name the front-man in his match day squad if he is fit enough.
Owen has had his moments in a Red Devils’ jersey and it seems that he isn’t resting on his laurels and wants to play a bigger role in his side’s title defence.
"I can't imagine myself getting back and starting in the 11. My mindset has got to be get myself ready mentally, physically and everything else because I might be needed for 10 or 20 minutes at a late stage of the season,” he said.
"Who knows? It could be the last game of the season at Sunderland. I might have built up enough, whether playing in a reserves game or two, and then that's fine.”
"But I think the immediate thing is to get myself mentally ready, just in case the manager says, 'I'll put you on the bench' or whatever and I'll come on for 15 minutes and try to nick a goal if we're struggling," the ex-Real Madrid said.
United next play the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium and will be looking to secure three points, so that they can get their hands on a record 20th English title.
