Owens Ger and Scott Flanigan take 470 Men class title: 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta – Sailing News
Former leaders in the 470 Men class from the beginning, Ireland’s Owens Ger and Scott Flanigan sailed outstandingly in the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta and was able to win the 470 Men class title with 29 points. The Irish pair took part in 10 races including
a discard race and a medal race.
The pair had a slow start in the regatta as they crossed the finish line on sixth position in the opening race and tumbled down in the lower standing positions. However, on the second day proceedings, they bounced back into the game with two bullets and
a fourth finish.
After the second day, the Irish pair shined with their stunning performance in the advance races. A second finish along with two bullets took them on top of the fleet once again. The medal race proved to be the final hit to confirm their success over the
470 Men fleet.
Paul Snow-Hansen and Saunders Jason of New Zealand, who were in the lead at the start of the regatta, failed to improvise during the proceedings and tumbled down in the standings and hit the second place.
