Owner Dr. Marwan Koukash completes a hat-trick with Gabrial, Montaser and Tamareen’s success at Haydock
Looks like Gabrial is on his way to achieve bigger victories based on his success in the Betfred Silver Bowl Handicap at Haydock on 26th May, 2012, with rider Jamie Spencer on his back.
The duo worked well together in a brilliant manner and left the competition behind on the 1 mile track, finished 1 ¾ lengths ahead of Lucky Henry whereas Switzerland finished third, 2 ¾ lengths behind the runner-up.
With winning odds of 9 to 2, the Richard Fahey trained runner was not expected to deliver such a terrific performance but he handled the race well and soon broke out to the front of the pack.
Owner Dr. Marwan Koukash seemed to have a lucky day as the David Simcock trained Montaser also claimed a victory at the same track yesterday in the Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap where he was under the command of the skillful rider, Jim Crowley.
The son of Rail Link, out of mare For Example, did not let his lack of experience get in his way and managed to emerge victorious by a neck over Rainbow Gold, the charge of Mark Johnston.
Tom Tate’s trainee, Beyond Conceit, finished in third place, 8 lengths behind the runner-up.
The bay colt improved immensely since his last performance in the Merseyrail Day Saver Ticket Handicap at Chester on 9th May, 2012, where he finished in fourth place and could bank on his status as race favourite.
David Simcock commented on his young charge and told the press that:
“He's a lovely type of horse who stays very well. The ground was just too soft for him at Chester last time - Frankie (Dettori) said that as soon as he got off. Although he hits the ground quite hard, he prefers it fast, so conditions suited today.”
The owner gained the third victory when the four-year-old Tamareen took complete control of the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap who arced with a 11-1 shot and blossomed under the guidance of jockey, Paul Hanagan and completed the 7 furlong course, 1 ½ length
before the Ralph Beckett trained Farlow.
