Owner Jeffrey Loria calls Miami Marlins’ slump temporary and assured of long-term success - MLB
When fans are losing patience and position on the table is declining, the slightest tinge of encouragement matters immensely. While the fans may have lost hope, given the current standing of the club on the table, owner Jeffrey Loria is fairly confident
that things will turn around.
Believing that the season is still at an initial phase, by picking up pace from now onward, the Marlins have every chance to claim the wild-card spot, if not the top position, he stated.
At the moment, the Marlins are at Fenway Park and playing a series against the Boston Red Sox. Hope shown by the owner met with immediate disappointment as the Marlins lost another game.
However the fact the game witnessed their offence rebounding largely, in contrast to the way it fared in last couple of weeks, one can believe that owner may not be entirely wrong with his faith in the team.
Next two games can become the bedrock of new beginning for the club. If they can manage to record two victories and go on to clinch the series win, by the dint of their confidence, something incredible can be achieved in upcoming games.
One of the reasons why their offence is failing in almost every game is the kind of demoralised feelings prevailing in the minds of players. Despite having talent, their best is stuck up and is not coming out.
During such times, morale boosters are needed. One will assume, words that the owner used and faith he showed in his players, Marlins will be energised and more determined toward the goal now.
“We’re going to be fine,” Loria said. “This is an excellent team, and I would never bet against them. We’re two games out of the wild card, and we could not have been playing worse for a very short moment.”
Loria is with the team right now as he will be watching players closely in next few games.
Jeffrey stated that a couple of injuries had affected the team, while at the same time he maintained, he is not offering an excuse on behalf of the club.
As the season enters into a crucial phase, one will be hoping that the Marlins improve and reach closer to the top team on National League East Division Table.
