Owner Jim Irsay appeals for calm as fans impatient to know Indianapolis Colts’ QB choice-NFL News
With 2012 National Football League (NFL) drafts just around the corner, Indianapolis Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, has appealed for calm as far as their choice of signing a draft quarterback is concerned.
The owner has refused to succumb to the outside pressure and anxiety about the team’s move for new quarterback from the drafts, scheduled to be held from April 26 to 28, 2012.
Almost all relevant circles of the NFL are keen to know who is going to replace Peyton Manning, the 14-year veteran who was cut by Colts in March 2012.
Colts have two players in front of them, Stanford College’s QB, Andrew Luck, and Baylor’s Robert Griffin III.
Having finished the 2011 NFL season at the bottom on league’s points table, Colts qualify for top draft pick this season, and according to overall rating and commentators’ views, he is either Luck of Griffin III.
Irsay has to decide about one of them and so far the owner is keeping his cards closer to his chest, while a majority of football community members are frustrated over his stubbornness to disclose his choice.
Jim Irsay, who is on Twitter almost round-the-clock, has tweeted to the team’s fans to be patient with him.
He wrote:
“The schedule is out and new era is here..in 1998 we went 3-13 and it took us until Jan. 2004, almost 6 years, to win 1st playoff game; Patience.”
This is not for the first time that fans and commentators are frustrated with the apparent mum of Irsay over a decision pertaining to Colts’ future.
He is capable of generating hype and suspense on any move until zero hour and in spite of repeatedly reported confirmation of his choice, he prefers to play around it until very last minute.
With regard to signing a new QB, Irsay has said to be in difficulty over making a right decision. He has weighed both players as of equally high calibre in his respective tweets.
Some of independent opinion makers believe it is definite that Colts will sign Andrew Luck, but in spite of their strong assertions, Irsay has refused to buy it.
He insists the management has not made their choice, which is too difficult for some commentators to swallow given that draft is only few days away.
According to them, it is difficult to believe that managers of the team are so lethargic about the decision, which matters the most to the long-term future of the team.
