Owners Mark Bacon and Dana Wells ecstatic over Silver Max’s run in the Secretariat Stakes
Owners of Silver Max, Mark Bacon and Dana Wells, are excited about the prospect of Silver Max racing in the Grade 1, $500,000 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park where he will attempt to stretch his winning streak to seven on 18th August,
2012.
Trained by Dale Romans, the three-year-old seems to be in incredibly good form, and has all the potential in the world to win this grand-event as well. Speaking of his relationship with the owners, the trainer said:
“I’ve been friends with Mark since before high school, and I’ve known Dana a long time, too.”
Mark Bacon is ecstatic about this race, that goes without saying but he also fears the level the competition as he said:
“They do kind of scare me, because their form is so hard to gauge,” Bacon remarked. “It’s one of the things that makes Arlington such a great venue. They’ve got horses coming from overseas to challenge us. It should make for a great race.”
Silver Max, son of Badge of Silver, out of mare Kissin Rene, likes to get out on the front from the getgo and, lead the entire way. Covering the 1 ¼ miles in the Secretariat should not be a problem, as he won the Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs over
the same distance.
Bacon is proud to have a terrific runner like Silver Max in his stables as he made it clear that:
“To have a top horse like this has been just unbelievable.”
In his six-race winning streak, the Kentucky bred runner won the Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland, the Grade 2 American Turf at Churchill Downs, and the Arlington Classic at this track, which shows that he has familiarity with the track
Mark Bacon commented, Secretariat, was one of his favourite horses, and if Silver Max managed to bag this victory, it would make it more special. Silver Max now holds an overall record of 7-5-0 in 13 starts and career earnings worth $855,967.
Romans is entering the Secretariat Stakes with some of his biggest guns as he is also entering Cozzetti and Finnegans Wake for different owners.
