Question:

Owning a grill at an apartment?

Do any apartments allow a gas grill or a grill of any type for that matter to be on your balcony?

Is it easy to get away with even if the apartments don't allow it?

What happens if you get caught, any fines or eviction policy I have to worry about?

I know it depends on your apartment for most of these questions, but I'm looking for just an overall answer.

Thanks.

  1. You are right it really does depend on the apartment. In mine you can only have gas grills and they have to be used at least 5 feet away from the building (or the farthest edge of your deck if you aren't on ground level). They inform you the first time if you are in violation, but it is considered a reason for eviction in my apartment. I would check with your landlord or a neighbor and only then obtain a grill.

  2. We had to be six feet from the porch, if we were downstairs, on the farthest edge of the patio upstairs, and if we didn't have a patio then we had to go to the park.
