I have been on oxy for 2 years everyday and now the doctor is saying they aren't available anymore due to a suit of some sort.

Now I am in day 4 of withdraw. Does anyone have a clearer answer to this non production?

And how the h**l do I make it through this withdraw?

I cant sleep or work or anything. I sweat and shiver and my bones are hurting.

  1. Purdue Pharm, the company responsible for the brand med Oxycontin is claiming that generic makers of Oxycontin(oxycodone) have been infringing on their patent of the drug.  The generic makers are claiming Purdue's patent on Oxycontin is invalid.  If a patent for a medication has expired or has been ruled invalid, then generic equivalents to the drug can be produced. Whether the Purdue patent on the drug is valid is still being determined in court so for now, there is no production of generic Oxycontin.

  2. The generic forms are gone from what I hear.  My mother takes Oxycontin and her cost skyrocketed.  If it's a valid reason you doctor can write for another analgesic instead.  Perhaps generic MS Contin or maybe a Fentanyl patch.

  3. I think because they lied in the beginning and they're very easy to tamper with. Generics were pulled because they didn't have the right to make them (something with the patent I suppose).

Drink lots of water, take lots of hot baths, eat very little, and keep your self active. It's not easy, but you can get through it. Since I'm guessing you have a pain problem, ask your dr. to give you something else just as strong, it's nuts for him to make you have to go through this. 5 days and you'll be fine. It only last for about 5 days if that. You'll feel better by day 7, for the most part. Day 4 is the worst.

  4. Oxycontin is still available, picked up my script for 80's today :)

    WD's are a *****.

Hit up some friends, see if anyones got some percocets or something .

Smoke some bud to get through it.

  5. Withdrawal is a tough, tough thing to beat. But first, lets go to the oxycontin thing.

Many stores have stopped carrying Oxycontin, and there is currently several law suits alleging that oxycontin has carcinogenic (cancer causing) effects. However, even if it were not being carried, it is unusual for him to pull the plug entirely on medication. I'd at least have you on some form of anti-nausea medication. Other then that, he should have put you on hydrocodine or some other painkiller to ease the effects somewhat. It seems like he might be pulling the plug on the medication to force you out of it.

As for withdrawal, you really need to take some time off work, and sit down by the toilet. You should be vomiting, experiencing fever, chills, increased sweating, headaches, and terrible cravings. There is no easy way to get through it, you just need to try and eat, drink lots of clear fluid, and try to keep your mind on other things.
