Would it be practical to try to increase room oxygen by adding a lot of plants in a bedroom? This is for a heart patient who has been advised by the doctor to move to a city with a lower altitude. The patient does not want to move.

I have been in greenhouses where the level of oxygen was very high, but I don't know if it would be practical to try to get a person's bedroom oxygen level up enough to really make a significant difference by adding some plants.

  1. not practical...the room would have to be air tight to see a difference.  Plants are considered oxygen makers because they usually make a bit more oxygen than carbon dioxide..the low light of inside lighting would not let the photosynthesis to occur the same as it would in the bright sunshine so less oxygen would be created to begin with

  2. It would work only slightly. Also remember the additon of plants will also increase the surrounding humidity.

The best advise would be to purchase or rent an Oxygen Generator.

  3. Remember that the process stops when the lights go out and you should move all the plants out in the evening and back in the day. That should sort out cardio excersise.
