Oyster card.?

I will be in London for one week and want to use an Oyster Card while I am there. Can my husband and I share one? Also, how much money (credit?) do you think I should load in it? I do not want to leave London with 10 pounds left in my Oyster Card. Is it possible to get a refund for unused "credit"?

  1. you'll need to get one each, as they each count as a 'ticket' - you can't share

it depends on how much you're going to use it as to how much credit you'll need - you could start the week with £10 credit, check it as you go and add a pound or two at a time to keep it going

  2. If you're going to be in central London (zones 1 and 2) for a week it's worth considering loading a 7-day travel card onto your oyster card instead putting money on it.

With a pay and go, you can get up to £5 returned in cash if you give your oyster cards in.

  3. You need two. It is possible to play the system but I don't think you would be up for that!

They say you'll never pay more than a daily travel card no matter how many journies you make, which is £5.40. That isn't many journies so budget for a lady godiva (fiver) a day!
