Ozeta to spring back into form in the Barley Mow At Rockwell Green Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle at Taunton
The Class 4 Barley Mow At Rockwell Green Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle is to be staged at Taunton over two miles and a furlong on Monday, 12th March. The race will see six four-year-olds contesting for the £4, 224 purse.
The lineup includes Dubawi Dancer, Hope Point, Ozeta, Blowing A Hoolie, Miss Exhibitionist and Ninfea.
Ozeta, Martaline’s four-year-old grey filly out of mare Ozehy, has been unsuccessful in the last two British races that she took part in.
Her final race of the 2011 season was in the Grade 2 JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial (Registered As The Prestbury Juvenile Hurdle Race) on 12th November at Cheltenham over two miles and half a furlong.
The 6/4 favourite winner of the race, Hinterland, took charge of the track three lengths before the wire while riding with R. Walsh. Rushing for the runner up’s slot was Hollow Tree.
Settling into the third position behind the winner was Secret Edge. Ozeta herself was only able to manage a fifth position on the track of nine.
Her welcome race for the 2012 season was the London Southend Airport Juvenile Hurdle on 17th February at Sandown over two miles and half a furlong.
Kapga De Cerisy was the winner of the race with Sam Thomas riding and escaping defeat by a mere neck’s margin from the 7/4 favourite runner up, Fire Fighter. Mattoral made terms with the third position of the race.
Last time that Ozeta won was on 9th September 2011 in the Prix Finot (Pouliches) (Division 1) (Hurdle) (Listed Race) (3YO Fillies Unraced Hurdles & Chases) (Turf) at Auteuil over two miles and two furlongs.
She was the 9/10 favourite winner with Anthony Lecordier onboard. Utopie Des Bordes was the runner up of the race while Uranus Le Dun parked third after the winner.
It has been nearly six months now that Ozeta has remained winless and is setting out for her second start of the new season today. Another factor that goes in her favour is the 22% strike rate of her trainer Nicky Henderson in the hurdles that are held at
Taunton.
Ozeta really needs to focus intensely on the chance that has come her way today in order to get her profile back on track.
