The German star has insisted that even though there are people who criticize him, he does not take any notice of them as he plays football only because he enjoys it and not to prove anything to the world.
Mesut Ozil recently featured in Real Madrid’s first team as they took on the challenge of their arch-rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, at the Nou Camp.
The Catalan giants were eight points ahead of Los Blancos in the league and it was Madrid’s first chance to bridge the gap between them and their arch-rivals.
However, Los Blancos could not capitalize on the opportunity given to them as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
During the game, Mesut Ozil was able to give one assist but his performance was not as good as it usually is when he plays for Los Blancos.
The German star came under the spotlight and was faced by a lot of criticism after the game as he was not able to produce as it was expected of him.
While answering the critics, the German player stated that he does not play football to prove something to anyone; in fact, he only plays football because he enjoys it.
The German star answered his critics by saying:
“I do not need it [the criticism] to help me perform. I don’t play football to prove anything to anyone but because I enjoy it.”
Mesut Ozil also spoke about the Spanish journalists, who he thinks manipulate a lot of words when a player speaks them. The German player said:
“It is very difficult to choose the right words to use with Spanish journalists.”
There are also speculations surrounding Mesut Ozil’s departure from the Santiago Bernabeu as there are rumours which link him to the Premier League giants, Manchester United.
While speaking about a possible departure from the Spanish capital, Mesut Ozil said:
“There is not one reason for me to leave Real Madrid.”
After the 2-2 draw, Real Madrid are still eight points behind both their rivals, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Now, the world of football will witness an international break and Mesut Ozil will be travelling with the German squad that will be taking part in the FIFA World Cup 2014’s qualifiers.
