The German has revealed that he was given a chance to move to the Milan outfit but refused in favour of the Spanish giants; insists he would like to stay for the rest of his career.
Mesut Ozil has revealed that he passed a chance to join the Nerazzurri, after the spectacular performance in the World Cup in order to join Real Madrid.
The offer from Inter Milan was initiated by former coach, Jose Mourinho, who later successfully lured the star to the Spanish giants following his appointment as the manager at the club.
The Nerazzurri had reportedly made a second attempt to acquire the services of the German national offering £21 million, but the player had his sight fixed elsewhere. The attacking-midfielder joined Real Madrid for a reported sum
of £12.5million.
The playmaker insisted that in retrospect, he is pleased to have made the right decision. He insisted that the Madrid club is a wonderful place to be, and he would like to remain at the club until his retirement.
While talking to Sport Bild, the former Werder Bremen player said:
"It is true that in 2010 I had offers from some top European clubs. This included http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567. But the decision to go to Real was absolutely right. It's the best club in the world, and I would like to end my career here.”
The German insisted that he is only a budding performer, and believes that his best years are ahead of him. He assured that he is working his best at the club as well as the national side, and believes that the current year has
the potential to be a historic one for him.
"I am only 23 years old, I will not reach my peak for a long time. I'll become even better. I am concentrating fully on Madrid and the national team, because we can make history this year. We [Real] can win La Liga and the Champions
League, and in the summer the European Championship with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904."
The Madrid star went on to praise rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, and their spearhead Lionel Messi’s performance in the UEFA Champions League, and hailed the star as top class.
The aggressor, however, pointed out that his side are leading the La Liga standings with a six-point lead over Barcelona, and have grown tremendously over the rivals as a team.
