The German international has expressed his desire to watch the Bavarians lift the European crown in the final against Chelsea on May 19.
Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil has expressed that he is rooting for German Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, to emerge victorious from the final that will take place at the Allianz Arena.
Jupp Heynckes’ men are set to lock horns with English Premier League outfit, Chelsea, in the showdown of the UEFA Champions League this year. Interestingly, the venue for the final on May 19 is Bayern’s home stadium of Allianz Arena.
Ozil has insisted that he wants the German outfit to win the showpiece decider, despite the fact that they are the same team that eliminated Los Blancos from Europe.
Although many had believed that this year’s European campaign is all about Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, the two Spanish giants were knocked out of the prestigious competition at the semi-final stage.
Surprisingly and quite contrary to popular belief, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have managed to book a place in the final. Hence, emphasizing on the phrase ‘anything can happen in football.’
The Blues, who had a difficult season at home, were hardly ranked among favourites to reach this far. The London club saw their head coach, Andre Villas-Boas, along with a thriving struggle in the league table.
On the other hand, Bayern proved themselves as footballing juggernauts across Europe as they demolished every opposition that they came across, including Jose Mourinho’s men, a team that had a stronger team on paper.
Mesut Ozil has stated that he has no hard feelings attached to Madrid’s exit from the Champions League and called out on the Bavarians to win the coveted trophy. He also discussed his side’s La Liga triumph and appeared pleased with the feat.
While talking to reporters, the 23-year-old quoted:
"I am supporting Bayern in the final. Winning the Liga title has taken our minds off the Champions League elimination for a while. But the frustration returns now that the final is approaching. We will have to give it another try next season."
The Santiago Bernabeu outfit last became European champions in 2002. Can Jose Mourinho lead Los Vikingos to their next European triumph next season? We can only wait and see.
