Ozzie Guillen furious on being rated least respected manager in Men Journal survey-MLB Update
Hardly the pain of watching his side lingering at the lowest ebb on the National League East Division table has subsided, Men Journal survey comes as a disaster for Miami Marlins' manager Ozzie Guillen. A conclusion by the survey is that Guillen is a least
respected manager currently has fallen as a bombshell on him.
Guillen fired back at the finding and stated that he had great success as a manager. A slight downslide in performance cannot be taken as a reason to launch a full-fledged attack on him and on his ways for managing players.
He justified his style of management by clarifying that he has not to please everyone. Only thing he has to ascertain is that the Marlins are performing at their top potential.
“Check my winning percentage. I have a World Series championship. There are a lot of great managers out there that are very good guys. They don’t get [expletive]. I’m not getting paid for people to like me. I’m getting paid to win games,” Guillen stated.
Respondents in the survey termed him fickle and a kind of manager who keeps taking swipes at players instead of being cordial with them. They further questioned his facade of being supportive for players, maintaining that he more often than not meant otherwise
when he apparently held faith in a player.
Couple of days ago, Guillen had a brawl with relief pitcher Heath Bell during the game. That was also a demonstration of how far he can go with players, when they are not agreeing with his words.
If he feels some players are not being the way they should be, he goes out to them and makes sure they are on track and in-line with his plans, Guillen maintained.
He elaborated that he does what is in the best interest of players, regardless of how they take it personally.
“I treat my players the way they should be treated. I never treat my players unfair. Maybe they don’t like the way they should be treated,” Guillen said.
The best way to respond to criticism is the performance in terms of number of wins in the season. For as long as Marlins’ struggle continues on the park, Guillen will keep enduring the denouncement.
