Ozzie Guillen hits out at ESPN journalist Buster Olney on Twitter after winning – MLB News
Exasperated by the comments that ESPN journalist Buster Olney made about the Miami Marlins, Ozzie Guillen uses Twitter to vent his anger on him. The reason why he is so infuriated is Olney termed Marlins as losers and a kind of team which has given up in
his recent article.
Responding to this after winning Friday’s game, Guillen has tried to express that Marlins are still as competitive as they were at the start of the season.
Guillen is notorious for becoming part of controversies. From day one in the season, he has been involved in various activities both off and on the field which sparked debates and invited criticism from various quarters.
His vulnerability to controversies grew intense when the Marlins began losing games on a regular basis. Disturbed by the failures, the criticism that followed was bound to add to his woes. On Twitter when fans posted comments against him, he hardly could
tolerate them and for the same reason he abandoned using it.
However, right now he has returned to Tweeting again, this time around with a renewed resolve to tackle his detractors. He stated before he reverted to Twitter more than a week ago that he just wants to get rid of the boredom.
What is strange about Guillen is the fact it has not taken him a long time to begin losing patience and taking swipe at his critics on Twitter.
However he has presented an acceptable logic to defy the assertion of Olney.
The claim by Olney which says Marlins are not trying is negated when it comes out that most of the Marlins’ players have to show something spectacular to cement their place on the roster next year.
“When you make comments that say [we] aren’t playing hard enough, you aren’t watching us,” Guillen said. “First of all, there’s only two players in my lineup for next year — [Jose Reyes and Giancarlo Stanton]. The other guys have to bust their tails to convince
us they can play here next year.”
Guillen is trying hard to end the season on a high by taking the winning percentage to a substantial level. Let’s see whether he can put aside the criticism and focus on winning games.
