Ozzie Guillen remains indifferent to rumours of dismissal from Miami Marlins - MLB Update
On the brink of losing his job, Ozzie Guillen is ready to face anything which comes out regarding his presence in the Miami Marlins for the next year. The speculations are rife which say Guillen will be fired just as other managers in the last four years
were dismissed by the owner Jeffrey Loria owing to their poor performances.
Regardless of what the owner decides about him, Guillen has reiterated that he is least bothered.
Originally he is under contact with the club until 2015 but against the backdrop of a hopelessly dismal win-loss record maintained in the season under him by the team he is likely to be ousted.
Loria had inducted him with high hopes. By providing him a roster which hosted stars he had expected Guillen to take the Marlins to winning the Division title this year.
As the owner is immensely dissatisfied now, he looks to build up a strong team for next year. He will be aiming for bringing certain changes in the managerial staff.
Guillen has been in proximity with various controversies in the season. He has earned more publicity due to the brashness of his personality than a splendid performance by the team that he manages.
From the Fidel Castro episode to yelling at other team’s players, he has given an impression that the disappointment has taken a heavy toll on the way he goes about his job.
The skipper is aware of the fact that every team which lands at the bottom just before the conclusion of the season is investigated and thus prompts sweeping changes more often than not. He is not alone in the list of the managers who are on the verge of
getting fired.
“You know why?” Guillen said. “Because we’re in last place. Leyland didn’t do what he’s supposed to do. I didn’t do what I was supposed to do. Bobby didn’t do what he’s supposed to do. There’s a lot of [managers] in last place that they’re not talking about.
They’re not supposed to win, either.”
Within the next few days, it can be expected that the owner comes up with a clear statement. It will be interesting to see whether Guillen can retain his job for next year.
