Ozzie Guillen’s departure “needed to happen, for both sides” says Chicago White Sox Jake Peavy
The Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy currently speaking in the media and revealing some realistic facts about his and former manager Ozzie Guillen’s relationship which everybody observed as being too cold.
Giving an interview to a newspaper recently, he told the interviewer an interesting fact about his late association with former White Sox manager who was determined to trade him. But later Guillen himself left the franchise and joined the Miami Marlins.
First, Peavy said on Guillen’s departure to Marlins as, "Needed to happen, for both sides. … Things needed to change with the way we did things.”
He added, “We're all to blame. It wasn't just Ozzie. I know he had a hard time, saying I quit on him, which couldn't be further from the truth, I would never quit on a team. … Ozzie didn't finish the season with us the last (two) games for his own reasons. So I don't know who quit on who, at the end of the day, Ozzie didn't really know what goes on, (about the decision).”
Every White Sox fan knew before the end of 2011 Major League season that both these individuals are having a tough time resolving their disagreements which came out in the media around mid July. Both ended the season with negative note especially things remained unclear until the recent bold interview of Peavy.
On contrary to that, in sports and especially within a certain franchise, things do come-up having different opinionated preferences but the only thing remained on top is the spirit of the game and here too, both individuals now have settled in their respective places.
Guillen is going to start another managerial effort with the Marlins after spending almost seven seasons with the White Sox. Peavy is enthralled to play in the next MLB season to improve his last season’s 4.92 ERA along-with 7-7 win loss record, 95 strike-outs and 1.26 WHIP.
However, his career 3.47 ERA along with 109-81 win-loss record, 1554 strike-outs and 1.19 WHIP makes him a true ball player but the upcoming season will provide him more chances to become a more productive player and most probably at a good distance from all the controversies.
