  1. It's Aussie, Aussie, Aussie oi, oi, oi! ~Aussie is what we call ourselves here in Australia.

The chant with oi,oi,oi on the end,  began being used at sporting events (footy & cricket) & has become a national catchphrase ~ as an enthusiastic, joyful cry ~ just for the h**l of being an Aussie!

  2. Lol, just use to show how proud and enthusiastic we are to be Australians.

We shout it in sporting events and Australian celebrations.

    Aussie Aussie Aussie!

    Oi Oi Oi!

  3. It is a chant, and mostly done at sporting events, but it is also used to show national spirit and gather Aussie support. You will hear it chanted in pubs across the world during games, on ski slopes when Aussies find one another, and more. It is a celebration of being Aussie!

No one truley knows the origin of the saying, some say that it began with the English shouting Oggie, Oggie, Oggie at sporting events... other say that it was to shout down to miners in a shaft during the gold rush.

In 2004 a Melbourne couple registered the saying to keep overseas companies from exploiting it.

Want to get an Australian crowd hopping with excitement? Shout it ..Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

  4. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oy, Oy, Oy! It a football chant or sports chant. Aussie for Australian and Oy for, like, Hey.

  5. a chant usually chanted in a roaring voice at a major sporting event when australia are playing

  6. Aussie Aussie Aussie, OI OI OI!  Is actually just what us Aussies say when we're cheering on our sporting team, or really drunk at the pub.  It's like the Canadians yelling Canuck Canuck Canuck, OI OI OI! Or the Irish singing pub songs, or the Americans singing their national anthem in a crowd at a sporting event.

Australians are very patriotic, but they express their patriotism in a comedic, not-very-serious way.  That isnt' to say it isn't genuine, and that they truly love their country.  They just as a whole think that whole 'teary eyed patriotism' that the Americans have is a bit wussy.  We like our patriotism served with a side salad of 'I'm at the pub and I'm not too serious tonight'.

    Best wishes

  7. It's actually "Aussie Aussie Aussie, etc". A  supportive nationalistic chant used at international sporting events.

  8. oooo that si true i dont know what it means. that will get me mad 2 so when you find out e-mail me mdeanna66@yahoo.com

  9. lol its jus a kwl sayin, 2 prove were kwler than other countrys wot dont have a gud catchy sayin lyk us... lol

  10. It's an Australian catchphrase!

Ozzie/Aussie is a term Australian's give themselves and the 'ozzie ozzie ozzie, oi, oi, oi is often used in chants on Australia day! Kind of a symbol for national pride!
