Pádraig Harrington hits the shot of his lifetime

Before Francesco Molinari won the match, grabbed the trophy, the € 860,153 prize money, his flight to the Singapore open and finally some time to celebrate his 28th birthday on the 8th of November, Pádraig Harrington pulled off
the shot of a lifetime on the 6th of November at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai.
The 4-round championship was held till the 7th of this month and ended with Francesco Molinari as the winner as he carded a total of 269 with a minus 19. The game had been a classic display of first rate golf where most players
collected bogey free rounds at the Sheshan International GC in China. Harrington carded a 283 with a minus 5 overall.
Harrington had been highly optimistic about his game and said that he feels he doesn’t need to look for anything in the off spring. The thirty nine year old carded a collection of three straight 70s in the first three rounds and
one 73 in the last round of the event.
As far as his winter practice is concerned, the man from Ireland stated that he’s trying not to overdo it since he is aiming to gather all the major titles he can. With approximately two months left to end in 2010, Harrington has
three events left to play which will mark his 15 full years as a professional. For 2011, Harrington says his routine will be different.
At day three of the HSBC champions, the thirty nine year old carded a 70 and said that when there’s a lack of understanding of what you want, the golfers usually end up looking for something in the winter break. He said that thankfully
for him, he only has to put everything together once 2011 starts and then he’s off.
“I know what I want to do” Harrington said.
Harrington’s impressive shot appeared in the greens when he used a three wood at the 14th hole. The hole at the Sheshan course witnessed Harrington’s second shot playing a par 5 250 yard trek.
Regarding the 14th hole episode, he was rather shocked by it. Harrington had 259 yards in the wind and said that he never had an impediment like that before.
The 14th hole had all the masses in ear-piercing hoots when Harrington holed it. There was a good distance of 250 yards between him and the flagstick and he needed to hit in the middle of the green. The fun part was that the thirty
nine year old’s ball had to cross a huge area of water and hit right in the heart of the green. Harrington’s strategy was simple, “ill try to strike a nice soft fade”.
He hit the ball, it ran up and the crowd cheered. Where the crowd cheered wildly, all Harrington could think of was that the ball had dropped close by, but the Irish failed to notice for a minute that the ball had gone in.
When he realized this, he regarded it as a nice bonus.
