P.K. Subban dedicated to staying with Montreal Canadiens for a long time -NHL Update
It seems to be just a matter of time when Montreal Canadiens will re-sign their full of potential defenseman, P.K. Subban after the Canadian, National
Hockey League (NHL) franchise announced signing Max Pacioretty to a six-year mega deal.
At the age of 23, Subban has definitely proved one thing and that he is one of the best defenders in the league at the moment which provides Montreal
with extensive depth in the defensive part of the ice.
Some analysts had doubts to the fact that Subban will not be staying with Montreal if they continue to hang him to a contract, but the Montreal defender
has retaliated his status and wishes to stay a part of the team.
"There's no question that people know that I enjoy playing (in Montreal)," Subban told NHL.com on Monday during a visit at Laylor Performance Systems,
where he trains in the summer. "I grew up a Montreal Canadiens fan. I love playing there and I want to play there for the rest of my career."
There is no telling at the moment when the world might hear that news that Subban has signed on to a multiyear extension with Montreal Canadiens,
but on the dark part of the media, some are terming the defender to be in negotiations with other teams as well.
Vancouver Canucks and other Canadian clubs have expressed interest pretty openly, but Subban, being a free agent now, will have to fight for a chance
to move on before anything does viable happen.
"Ever since that first playoff run (in 2010), the message to me has been they've wanted me there for a long time," Subban said. "At the end of the
day it's about your relationship with the team and if they want to do that."
He is at the moment eligible to sign an offer sheet with any other club, but Montreal Canadiens will have to match that offer no matter what if they
want to retain Subban on the team.
Updates on the player and his status with Montreal Canadiens should be expected in upcoming days or weeks with both sides working out a negotiations.
"Ever since that first playoff run (in 2010), the message to me has been they've wanted me there for a long time," Subban said. "At the end of the day it's about your relationship with the team and if they want to do that."
