  1. Hope you have a fantastic day and a wonderful life together.  Can't specifically help  on the Canaries.  We re-took our vows

just off Sardinia, just as the sun was setting, on a cruise ship.

It was a wonderful time and we were treated like royalty. Flowers champagne cake dinner on the Captains table - you name it - we had it.  Nothing was too much trouble.  What more could you ask for, after 25 years together not much I guess!

  2. have you asked this before a few weeks ago,if it isnt you theres going to be a couple of marriages on board, the rest of this answer is what i have wrote to the other question.

ohhh fantastic have a fantastic time? were going on the oceana on the 30th sept, this will be our 3rd time aboard this brilliant liner, you will have a ball? the food is out of this world, especially the night time sit down meal? imagine dining out in a first class restaurant every night, because this is what lies ahead for you? there are more and more younger familys ,that are now opting for this kind of holiday, its not and no offence to anyone, just for the old people,as it was once stereotyped? my two kids have a ball playing in the pool, etc.and to wake up in a different country every morning is brilliant. there are top notch west end shows on twice a night,to cater for the two dining times?one thing i must tell you is keep an eye on your bar bill, while the tea/coffee is all in.you do have to buy alcoholic/soft drinks which do add up? be prepared in dress sense for the different themed nights,i:e tuxedo, smart jacket-trousers for him, nice dresses for her. a brass band will play you off the quay side, once you have boarded, and gone through the compulsary muster station drill? what dates are you going..ours is 30th sept-14th oct and called the mediterranean escape? i have the web-site here for p&o in which you can get views from the bridge, and loads of other information? i ll come back to this question later to see what dates youre going,if you edit your question, see you for now, heres the link...http://www.pocruises.com/pocruising/home... in tenerife have a day out to loro parque, its fantastic especially the dolphin show,in madeira we went on a wine tasting trip which was pretty good, you got to see a bit of the country side, before sampling the different ages of madeira wine. in vigo i think it was, there are old ladies selling oysters, one word of warning ,and i love sea-food dont touch them,a table of 8 at dinner time near us did,and they were laid up for 4 days with food poisoning. in lisbon we saved some brass, and got the free bus into town and had a walk all round the black horse square, just be careful of pick-pockets,and the beggars,so try to limit yourselfs with valubles you take.

  3. We never take ship excursions.   We always plan beforehand and do our own.

Recently went on cruise around Hawaii 5 main islands.  At each stop picked up prearranged hire car and did our visits from details obtained on Internet from local tourist office in each stop. We organised our own whale watching and went on a (slightly more expensive) high speed inflatable boat with 10 guests.  We had fab 2 hours and got some real David Attenborough photos of whales breaching and mother and calfs.  The cost inclding the hire car was cheaper than the ship organised trip which went on a big slow ship with about 200 people on, they saw virtually nothing - and paid more!

1 hire car for 2 people is cheaper than 2 ship excursions, and you have the car for the whole day!

If you don't want a hire car, but know before you go where you want to visit, there are always local taxis waiting at the ship.  You can usually haggle a good price (remember it's for 2 people) to take you and bring you back.

One trip you will not think of is in Madeira - walk the water levadas!

They have gulley's along the sides of the roads, along farm sides, through farms for irrigation.  They channel all the water running off the mountains down these gullies.  There are well known walks,  and "take pot luck" ones.   Ask a taxi driver to take you to one and then you spend the rest of your time walking down hill back to the ship!   We have spent a lovely peaceful afternoon doing this, it was fascinating and you see the real life/people.

Haven't been on this ship but all P+O ships are superb in all ways, have a wonderful time.
