P.V. Sindhu clears qualifying round while male Indian shuttlers crash out of All England open
The female Indian singles shuttler Pusarla Venkata Sindhu marched into main round while the male Indian shuttlers failed to clear the qualifying round and crashed out of the All England Open.
Three Indian shuttlers, P.V. Sindhu, Sourabh Varma and Gurusaidutt R.M.V, were subjected to qualifying round but only female Indian shuttler P.V.Sindhu was able to surge into main draws by nailing Rena Wang of U.S.A and the Indonesian girl Lindaweni Fanetri
in her two opening encounters.
The male shuttlers Sourabh Varma was knocked out by Hsuan Yi Hsueh of Chinese Taipei and the second male singles contender Gurusaidutt had to catch flight to home when he got hammered by the Malaysian shuttler Wei Feng Chong.
The Indian girl P.V. Sindhu started her expedition with a convincing straight-set victory over Rena Wang of U.S.A by registering the final score of 21-19 and 21-14.
She managed to continue with her top form in second encounter of qualifying round against the Indonesian female shuttler Lindaweni Fanetri. The Indian paved her path to the main round by overpowering the Indonesian contender with 21-14 and 21-18 score on
the board.
On the other hand, the young Sourabh Varma had to bear an early exit as he failed to shine against Hsuan Yi Hsueh of Chinese Taipei in an epic tussle of 59 minutes.
Both players snapped at each other’s heels to finish the battle with a close margin of 22-20, 20-22 and 21-16.
The Taipei showed his class in first set when the both players were equal on board with 20-20 and did not allow his Indian rival Sourabh Varma to excel. He wrapped the show with decisive margin of 22-20.
The young Sourabh though levelled the lead by clinching second set again with a tight margin of 22-20 but he frittered away his effort by losing the final match point with concluding margin of 16-21.
The Indian shuttler Sourabh Varma could not tread further but the other shuttler Gurusaidutt ended his expedition by standing one step ahead than his compatriot.
Gurusaidutt overpowered his Russian rival Vladimir Ivanov in opening match but could not rise against the Malaysian shuttler Wei Feng.
Though, Gurusaidutt stretched his challenger to three sets but the Malaysian won this 58-minute- qualifying battle with final margin of 21-16, 20-22 and 21-8.
The ultimate survivor P.V. Sindhu will now start her marathon in main round and she will be striving along with other female singles shuttler Saina Nehwal to escort India to the glory in women’s singles event of the All England Open.
