P.V. Sindhu is determined to soar high after rising in All England Open – Badminton news
Young Indian female shuttler Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is determined to soar high after having a short but momentous run in the All England Open event. The 17-year-old P.V. Sindhu crashed out of the event after losing to Taipei shuttler Tai Ying-tzu in the
first round, but she showed a strong character and potential which fetched a great deal of admiration for her.
Women’s Singles expert P.V. Sindhu comes from the Gopichand Badminton Academy and she trains under Indonesian coach Edwin Iriwan. Training with Iriwan has really worked in her favour as Sindhu climbed up to the 29th spot in the world rankings
during the last two years.
She is confident to use her training experience to elevate her badminton skills and hopes to stamp the big names of badminton in the future. Sindhu said, “I have been training under Indonesian coach Edwin Iriwan for the past one year at the academy, where
Gopichand is the chief coach. There is so much more to learn and, hopefully, I will start beating the Chinese players.”
The youngster started her journey at the tender age of eight and now, after World Number four Saina Nehwal, she is one the biggest hope of India in the badminton arena. It seems Saina Nehwal will not be alone for long as P.V. Sindhu is catching up at great
pace.
This future Indian star has big dreams in her eyes as she intends to be one of the top ranked female shuttlers of the world but interestingly, she is impressed by a male shuttler’s craft in the court.
P.V. Sindhu said, “I want to break into the world’s top 10 in the next two years. Eventually, I want to be the world No. 1. I like Lee Chong Wei’s style of play but I am my own role model. Success and failure depend on myself.”
She was the only female Singles shuttler who surged into the main draw by clearing the qualifying round of All England Open. Sindhu caught the attention of spectators with her gusty performances on the court.
While there have been discussions about Saina Nehwal being the only Indian international figure in badminton, India seems to have found a real gem in the shape of young P.V.Sindhu.
