P. V. Sindhu outshines Yu Sun to claim a seat in quarter-final round – India Open Update
The young but talented female shuttler P. V. Sindhu played impeccable badminton and gained access to the quarter-final round of Yonex Sunrise India Open on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
She faced a spirited Chinese campaigner Yu Sun and this Women’s Singles encounter prolonged to one hour and eight minutes.
Both contenders challenged each other in all departments of game and finished this crucial match with a nerve-racking result of 19-21, 21-19 and 21-15.
Though, the Indian player lost the opening game but she did not lose heart and prevailed in the ending games.
On the other hand, Yu Sun looked completely dazzled in the final moments and her below par performance ultimately led her to a woeful exit.
The battle heated up when the Chinese shuttler unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and confounded her rival. She bagged many valuable points in a row and established a decent lead in no time.   
This initial advantage helped her to keep the opposing shuttler grounded also in next couple of rallies. Though, the third quarter of set saw her making some mistakes but Yu Sun managed to finish this game with a favourable score position of 21-19.
However, she could not show consistency in her performance and surrendered tamely in the following segments of the showdown.
Meanwhile, P.V. Sindhu showed elevated craft in next game and brought the contest to right balance.
Initially, she played with a cautious approach but then latter part of the game saw her in prime touch. She started the beating in third quarter of the set and kept her competitor under control all the way to game point situation.
The spirited Indian shuttler finished second set with 21-19 score and setup a nerve-racking third set. She did not show any sign of laziness in the decider and oust the opponent in even more impressive manner.
This time she launched an intensive attack and got into commanding position immediately in the beginning. She maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments and sealed a splendid win with scoreboard flashing 21-15 margin.
With this win, she ensured her presence in quarter-finals of India Open.
