P. V. Sindhu stamps Sapsiree Taerattanachai en route to finals of 2013 Malaysia Grand Prix Gold
India’s young but talented female shuttler P. V. Sindhu continued her unbeatable run in the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Grand Prix Gold and marched into final round on May 3, 2013.
She locked horns with another spirited Thai shuttler Sapsiree Taerattanachai and their encounter concluded in just two games.
The Women’s Singles expert P.V. Sindhu took just 33 minutes to wrap this showdown with a favourable result of 21-17 and 21-11.
The Indian badminton queen laid foundation of her supremacy in the beginning of first set and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments.
She showed her intentions by launching an intensive attack in the establishing rallies of opening game. She played with an authoritative approach and pushed her rival on the back foot.
Sapsiree was not prepared for such an intensive invasion as she remained at lower end in most part of the first half.
On the other hand, Sindhu kept on moving forward on the points table at steady pace and doubled her lead before the announcement of one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, she lost focus for a short span of time and allowed her competitor to narrow the gap on points table.
Sapsiree bagged many valuable points without any interruption and brought life back into the contest. It was felt that she will be able to pocket this crucial match point but then few blunders jeopardised her stakes.
The Indian badminton queen struck hard when it mattered and locked the honour with 21-17 score.
Next game proved a one sided affair as P.V.Sindhu did not give her rival even a single counterattack opportunity and sent her packing with a staggering knock.
This time she played aggressively straight away from the first stroke and established an unassailable lead in no time. Sindhu proved herself superior technically and tactically and strengthened her grip over game.
At first, she mounted pressure by putting a respectable figure of 11 and then magnified the impact by placing an overwhelming margin of 21-11.
With this victory, she ensured her presence in the final round where Gu Juan of Singapore is ready to take on her.
