P. V. Sindhu treads into pre quarter-finals of 2012 Syed Modi International India GPG
India’s talented female campaigner P. V. Sindhu employed all of her brilliance against Li Lian Yang and gained access to the pre quarter-finals of Syed Modi International India GPG on December 19, 2012.
This Women’s Singles encounter was staged at the local badminton arena of Lucknow and it concluded with decisive figures of 21-6 and 21-12.
Sindhu, who is second seeded shuttler of this GP Gold event, proved herself technically and tactically superior in both segments of the showdown.
Meanwhile, the inexperienced Malaysian player failed to show her class and remained at the lower end throughout this crucial tussle.
First sign of trouble came for Lian Yang when she let many valuable points slip from her hands in the beginning of first set.
She could not make amends all the way to game point situation and this resulted in a woeful defeat.
On the other hand, Sindhu played with great precision after establishing an early lead and maintained that upper hand until last shot was played.
She pushed her rival on the back foot with a staggering knock of 11-0 and then magnified the impact by adding many consecutive points in her total.
After the mid-game break, Sindhu showed her real panache and dazzled Lian Yang with a lustrous performance.
She did not make even a single mistake and cruised to victory in a splendid manner. At first, she widened the gap with 15-4 and then left her competitor far behind with 21-6 score on the board.
The following game remained interesting just until the establishing rallies as both shuttlers challenged each other to gain an early advantage.
However, the Malaysian lady fell flat on her face in latter part of the game and allowed Sindhu to seal a straight-set victory.
In first half of the set, both contenders matched each other’s skills and remained close on the points table but then the native shuttler showed elevated craft and tipped the scale in her favour.
Sindhu maintained a significant difference of nine points and placed an overwhelming margin of 21-12.
Now she will lock horns with Victoria Na in pre quarter-finals of 2012 Syed Modi International India GPG.
