In my opinion I'd say Joe Calzaghe, with a record of 44 - 44 - 0 and 21 title defenses, he has to considered an all time great and I'm shocked that only know he is getting the recognition and praise from the american boxing fans and pundits.

  1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best boxer of all time.. he dictates the tempo of the action and is undefeated. you can never go wrong with my pick!

  2. ALI is the most immersive fighter ever !!!! As an athlete and a real person I think yes by far ….. every one that have studied boxing and sports mast admit that it is a fact .

The new legend in heavyweight boxing is klitschko .

  3. Sugar Ray Robinson is universally recognised as the greatest boxer pound for pound of all time and it is hard to argue against it. I agree that Calzaghe is a great boxer and it is good that he is now getting the recognition he has deserved for years but he still has a long way to match Robinson, i mean he lost once in his first 130 fights and that loss was to Lamotta which he avenged on numerous occasions. He held the World Welter and Middleweight titles for long reigns and it was a period when it was one belt for one weight and had a lot less weight divisions. Robinsons achievements just haven't been matched in boxing, Joes Wbo belt that he has held for all these years would only be a 16th of the belt that Robinson held if you say nowadays you have 4 belts for each division and 4 weights around the Middleweight area. So as i said i still think Joe has a way to go before being mentioned in the same breath as Sugar Ray Robinson.

  4. yes Ali and klitschko ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Homicide Hank  Henry Armstrong. Held three titles in three different weight classes all at the same time.

  6. The best pound for pound fighter of all time is without a doubt Sugar Ray Robinson.  Ask any boxing historian and they will tell you that he is the best.  Look at the list of fighters that he's beaten and he beat most of them when he was past his prime. Some of them include; Jake Lamotta (5 times), Carl Olsen, Rocky Graziano, Kid Gavilan, Fritzie Zivic, Randy Turpin, and many others.  Calzaghe is a good fighter and he is currently in the top 3 pound for pound fighters in the world, but to say that he is the best of all time is crazy (no offense).  The reason why he is just now getting recognition is because 1) American fight fans are finally getting a chance to see him and 2) He is finally fighting other top opponents, throughout his whole career, he's never fought outside of Europe and he fought a ton of fighters who most people have never heard of.  I give Calzaghe a lot of credit for what he's done recently and I can't wait to see him come to the U.S. to fight the living legend Bernard Hopkins and he has a good chance of beating Hopkins, but his recent accomplishments only make him one of the best TODAY, not of all time.

  7. Muhammad Ali

  8. You can't just pick one pound for pound best ever boxer, because in every great fighter's prime, they were the best pound for pound.

Muhammad Ali in his prime was the best pound for pound.

Here are more examples that come to mind; Sugar Ray Robinson, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis,Evandeer Holyfield,Joe Louis,Jack Dempsey,George Foreman,Rocky Marciano,Sugar Ray Leonard,Roy Jones Jr,Floyd Mayweather Jr, and yes I think right now you have to put Calzaghe in that best "pound for pound" class.

Once Clazaghe gets past Hopkins, will he step up and accept RJJ's challenge?

  9. sugar ray robinson, who could knock someone out going backwards, there is nothing he couldn't do in the ring...he was the master---even ali admitted so.

  10. Joe Calzaghe is a brilliant boxer and one of the best today, in todays rankings i rate Floyd mayweather above him because hes been champion in 5 weight divisions super featherweight, lightweight, light welter weight, welter weight, light middle weight, but your question is ever then its SUGAR RAY ROBINSON...202 PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS            175 WINS.... 108 KOs... never knocked out..most of his defeats came when he was over 40...ALI said he was the greatest heavyweight, sugar rar robinson was the greatest boxer.    his amateur record was 85 -0    69 kos
