  1. if you have paid too much tax, but I don`t think you have, your employer will get a new tax code for you which will be higher than everyone elses, you will pay less tax a week/month until you have got it back, you don`t usually get rebates now,

  2. Imput details into www.listentotaxman, and it will show you annual, monthly, and weekly figures. What makes you think you are due for a refund? We all pay astronomical tax, these days.

Re the answer about an R on form P60. That doesn't mean you are due a refund. It merely shows that that employer has refunded tax deducted by a previous employer, the second employment figure being a net refund rather than a tax deduction.

  3. As your tax code ended in L then you prob are not due a refund.

  4. Hope your not on the dole, far to much info.

  5. If your gross pay was £19,759 you can checkyour tax for 2007/8 as follows:

    1. Gross pay minus personal allowance (based on tax code) = £19,759 - £5,225 = £14,534

    2. Then the first £2,230 of this was taxed at 10% = £223.

    3. The remainder of the balance should have been taxed at 22%. Therefore = (£14,534 - £2,230) x 22% = £2,707.

    4. Add this to your '10% tax' = £2,707 + £223 = £2,929.

£2,929 is therefore the amount of tax you should have paid. You have paid pretty much spot on and therefore you won't be entitled to a refund.

p.s You employer has until 31 May to give you your p60 so it's only a bit late, it happens. Mine was too - I only got mine last week.

  6. Ok what you need to do is get a payslip, and look on it for your tax reference number, then phone up the Inland Revenue (they deal with all tax queries) and give them your reference number and they'll give you the phone number for your local tax office, then you phone that number and say to them that you'd like a form for a tax rebate and give them your details, and they'll send you a tax rebate form.

A tax rebate is the most common form of query that the Revenue get so they'll know what to do. But you need to get them to send the form out to you so that you can fill it out and send it back.

Don't just leave it with the Inland Revenue because they never do it properly, make sure that they send you out a tax rebate form.

  7. Your not due a rebate, you have paid correct amount of tax.

  8. It usually tells you on the P60 with a little R meaning rebate get in touch with the tax office they will tell you more,You should have gotten your P60 at the end of April beginning of May why is yours so late.
